    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The year has allowed me challenged myself and grow as an individual. There's been fantastic opportunities available to me and these have all allowed me to enhance my personal development in many ways. Furthermore, within the office I have held great responsibility and took on many duties on behalf of my team. These responsibilities and duties have been thoroughly enjoyable and have really developed my CV!

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I have felt extremely valued by my colleagues because they have taught me loads of new skills and also allowed me to teach them at times.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Guidance has been available at all times where necessary and my management team has held weekly synchs with me. During each meeting I am able to discuss my workload and ensure it's not overflowing. Furthermore, with regards to my projects, my management team has delivered sufficient advice when I've required it and are very quick to reply to all communications.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • My work day is usually pretty busy because I have challenged myself to take on numerous stretch projects to make the most of the year. With regards, to my "Data Analysis" duties I am usually given lengthy projects which is up to me to produce a timeline - which actually helps me develop my planning and organisation.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I had three main areas of focus with regards to responsibilities and these were: BI & Reporting, Weekly/Monthly analysis and Owning Productivity tools across the team.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Throughout the placement year I was able to bolster a scope of skills and enhance my personal development. One key skill which I have developed is my verbal communications as I was leading conference calls with colleagues overseas on a daily basis. I will be able to ensure this is a transferable skill with regards to my presentation assignments during my level three studies.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere was extremely pleasant, everyone spoke to one another and everyone got on really well.

  • Internship programme was extremely well structured with plenty of opportunities to get involved in external projects throughout the year.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was afforded the chance to sit Microsoft Office Specialist 2013 (MOS) exams in numerous Office 365 applications. These allowed me to enhance and demonstrate my office 365 proficiency and I was entered into the national championships.

  • I will be applying for the MACH scheme, as I find it extremely appealing and it has been well advertised.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes, we helped one another when we required each other's skills and we quickly became a group of friends rather than work colleagues. We organised many social activities on a weekly basis!

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Quite expensive as expected, as it was Central London!

  • It was extremely good as expected in London.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Plenty of available opportunities which are well advertised and my manager was very keen for me to network and take part in these activities.
