The Role
I loved my placement with Microsoft. I learnt so many transferable skills as well as having an incredible time enjoying the year overall. Working with the best in the industry to enhance skills I already possessed and develop new ones. 100% would recommend. The best year of my degree for sure!
From day one I felt valued. From my intern community and within my department. I was never once treated like a 'junior' member of staff and often times people would forget that I was an intern! I have also gained some incredible friends during my time at Microsoft!
I have an incredible relationship with my manager and there has not been one time where I have felt like I could not approach him for support. He put me forward for all the tasks the he felt I would enjoy and would allow me to peruse any responsibilities that would help me develop further. He gave me plenty of exposure to different sides of the business and remained transparent from start to end!
I wanted real responsibility. I expected to work hard and in all honesty at times there were times where I would say I was extremely busy but only because I wanted to finish the task that I had been set properly! I would not change it for anything else, I would rather be busy and consistently moving around than sat at my desk checking emails
I was running the show! The nature of my role allowed me to work across many different business functions and with this I gained first hand experience and knowledge which I would then transfer on to others! Loved how many things I was able to own and manage myself as well as work in some incredible team projects!
As I mentioned earlier this has to be the best part of my degree so far! I can happily say that the person I will be going back to uni as will be a lot more determined and organised to finish out his year. If I had not done this year at Microsoft I honestly feel I would have coasted through final year. I know what I want to do. I know I need to finish this degree to the best of my ability now to get what I want!
The Company
Always active, and a great buzz throughout! Working in advertising there is always fun things to do and be apart of both in work or with our clients!
The nature of my role meant that I had to be adaptable as my work was always adaptable! I would work within the marketing team one day, then tomorrow I would be expected to work with Sales. I know that this was an exception due to my role but throughout all my tasks remained consistently organised!
I had some incredible training that allowed me to develop at Microsoft. I had weekly 1:1s with my manager I had an official mentor as well as various other full time employees who would mentor me at the same time I had a Senior Leadership Team member as a mentor on a monthly basis

GET A JOB WITH THEM. Microsoft is a great company to be working for. I have learnt so much and as mentioned earlier everything I have gained in terms of experience, skills, network and friends will be carried on later in life!
The Culture
We have an incredible bond as interns! We truly have made some amazing friends and in turn we all love going out in LONDON! Which speaks for itself... we are out at least 4 times a week,... or at least I am!
I lived in Chelsea and I knew it was going to be expensive, however there are so many interns that lived in the likes of Tooting and Wimbledon which were incredible in terms of affordability
INCREDIBLE! LIVING AND WORKING IN LONDON MEANS YOU HAVE ACCESS TO ONE OF THE WORLDS GREATEST CITIES! Can not fault this and this is one of the main reasons I would suggest you work for Microsoft!
Yes! We have stretch projects such as Personal Development Plan (PDP) and Get On PDP - we worked as a group of ten and successfully pitched to get 100k to put towards a campaign that we managed from start to end #BingOriginals GetOn - Working in a schools team and going into various schools to promote a career in the tech industry! we reached 10,000 people...
