The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement at Microsoft. I have learnt more than I could imagine and have come out the process a more confident, more skilled individual.
I was made to feel like a valued member of the team, rather than just an intern. The responsibility I was afforded proved I was a trusted team member too.
I had weekly 1:1 meetings with my manager to discuss what I was working on and how I wanted to progress going forward. My manager also completed quarterly reviews with me to ensure I was on track to achieve everything I wanted to during my year's placement.
Depending on what campaigns were running at the time, I would say the balance was just right for how busy I was. How busy I was also depended on how much I wanted to take on- I got out what I put in.
I was afforded huge responsibility during my placement, taking on social entirely by myself. I was also able to manage campaigns start to finish.
Being able to see the theory you have learnt put into practice has been invaluable. Real life experience definitely brings your studies to life.
The Company
The general office atmosphere was very friendly and chilled. I never felt stressed at work and people would play music throughout the day which was nice.
The placement was organised very well with constant communication between HR and the interns.
I took several training sessions with my team and was also able to sign up for specific online training that took my fancy.

The graduate scheme is very appealing as you are able to spend time in a few different areas in one department to see what suits you best before taking it on permanently. The pay is also great!
The Culture
The social scene I would say has been one of the best parts of my placement year at Microsoft. I've not heard any other placement where there has been such a united intern community. I've made great friends, and between the offices too.
Socialising in London is expensive, but your pay covers the cost easily.
It's London- it's great!
Yes- there is always so much going on, from sports to music to comedy to food!
