The Role
Amazing place to work. I have been here currently for 4 months and it seems like a lot longer - I have learnt so much in my 4 months. I couldn't have asked for a better placement.
Colleagues are so supportive and friendly. If I ever have any problems I feel I can talk to my manager freely. Currently there are 11 other undergraduates working at Vauxhall Ellesmere Port and we are like a little family.
My manager is very supportive in everything that I do.
I have been extremely busy recently with the recruitment I have been involved in. Sometimes day are quieter but there is always something to be getting on with!
I have been given so much responsibility on my placement. I was a main member of the recruitment team - we just hired 100 new production operators, which meant I had to interview, psychometric test and dexterity test around 170 people.
I have definetely learnt so much being here! I am sure I will take away alot of knowledge that will help me in my future employement.
The Company
The undergrads all live together in Chester so we are always doing things. The atmosphere in the office is people are here to work but they also know that without a bit of banter and laughter the day will drag - everyone is so friendly and helpful.
Vauxhall have had undergraduate schemes for years - my manager was an undergrad herself a few years ago. my collegues do not treat us like undergrads they treat us like proper employees. We are seen as part of the team.
In my 4 months of being here I have been sent on lots of training course including interview training and psychometric test training also. Vauxhall have a special training grant for undergrads so there is always training avaliable.

Currently Vauxhall do not have a graduate scheme. But they say if you do get a placement with Vauxhall and make the right impression its a foot in the door.
The Culture
There are 6 undergrads who live together in Chester and the other 5 are always coming over for cinema trips and trips to the pub etc. We all get on so well literally spend 24/7 together!
we live in Chester which is about 15 minutes from Ellesmere Port plant. Rent is a little expensive but everything else is ok.
Chester is quite but a good night out for the quieter nights. Whereas about 30 mintues on the train is Liverpool which is an awsome night out!
