The Role
I enjoyed my placement year a great deal. I feel like I learned a great deal and had a lot of fun meeting all the interns as well as permanent members of staff.
I really felt like a valued member of staff. As soon as joined the team I was welcomed and given a huge amount of responsibility. Everyone made me feel like I was not an intern, but an important part of the team.
I was given a lot of support from the management team and felt that that they were very supportive and helpful with any issues I had.
My role was fairly varied in terms of how busy. This was because my main role focused around events which were not on all the time. This meant that I could have weeks where I was not quite as busy and weeks where it was full on and tough. I personally liked this balance but it may not be for everyone.
I was given lots of responsibility throughout the year. I had to talk to and face customers on a regular basis during events. Also for some events I took a leading role and had a huge amount of responsibility.
This year has helped me immensely and will definitely help me in future life. I feel that this year could help me just as much as my placement as it has helped my prepare for my future career.
The Company
The atmosphere in our department was very relaxed. As a lot of people work from home it can be quite empty, however it was still a very enjoyable place to work due to the people who were in.
The placement was well organised. Especially considering the hiring process was conducted by fellow interns. I felt there was often something exciting going on and during the onbording process we were given a thorough overview.
We were given a good amount of training at the start of the year, as well as additional training once we had started. I feel like the company felt like we were a valuable asset to the company.

Although there is no specific graduate role in our department, there are lots of opportunities to come back to SAP. Many of my co-workers were previous interns and if you do well there is a good chance to come back.
The Culture
As there were 30 interns at SAP we had a lot of good parties and nights out. London was not to far away however it was a bit of an effort to get back from after a night out. All in all there was a good social scene.
London is a fairly expensive place to live and therefore it was not particularly cheap. Some nights out outside London were cheaper but still a lot more than some places outside of the capital.
London obviously has an incredible nightlife but getting there and back could be challenging. All in all there were a lot of options and there is something for everyone.
As I lived locally before I was already part of some clubs in the area. However there are lots of local sports clubs and potential activities that were easy to get involved in.
