The Role
I thouroughly enjoyed all 13 months of my placement here at SAP. The role i undertook was engaging, customer facing and a great experience. The intern community we're all very close which was a real plus, as well having social events out of work which are also part of the placement experience.
I got on with my team very well and they we're all welcoming and friendly when i first joined SAP all the way thriough to the end of my placment. Gaining respect from the team is important as it helps them build trust in you and i found this evident staight from the start of my placement,
Ongoing sales training was extremely beneficial for my role and this was undertaken by my manager. My manager and team we're very supportive when i was working on deals and this helped built my confidance when going out and seeing customers.
My days at work went by quickly as a result of me being very busy on a day to day basis. Client patners being away from the office 2/3 times a week seeing customers meant that that often i would recieve a lot of their work to support them on their various deals. On top of this being part other projects meant that i was never bored or felt over worked.
In my opinion one of the best aspects of the being a placement student at SAP is the fact that whatever role you are in, you will have a lot of responicbility. You are treated as if you are a full time employee and this is evident in the tasks undertaken by the placement students. I have been foretunate enough to be in a role where i get responcibility to carry out deals from lead creation to deal closure and for me this a real bonus.
I have improved upon my time management and organisation skills significantly since I joined SAP. Softer skills such as communicating with employees in senior positions and showing professionalism at all times are skills learnt that will assist me in future office environments.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office is friendly and welcoming and emlpoyees are very open to giving advice or answering questions.
There was a good structure in the intern programme and this helped the understanding of the other interns roles and repsoncibilites.
Training activities and in relation to my role, being taken to customer meetings and workshops was a real benefit for me in regards to my personal development. Sales is an area i want to go into in the future and being involved in these customer meetings was a great experience.

Previous interns have come back to SAP in full time roles. There is a also a scheme called the SAP Sales Academy that interns can apply for.
The Culture
There were 30 of us interns this year which for socials were a good size. Bar visits along Richmond were a popular choice of the intern community.
I did not live in the area near work but from the feedback from those that have i believe th ecost of living is fairly reasonable
Some good bars but club wise not many opitons.
Netball for the girls and football for the guys were popular clubs with the interns but also the wider employee commnitee.
