The Role
It was a good placement with lots of stretch projects but I did feel with so many placement students it was hard to stand out. Also the ratio of placement to graduate roles is low meaning there is less chance of getting a graduate role
The team were great and have a real respect for the placement students. They were keen to give us responsibility and supported us.
They were good at giving us support and there were training sessions to help with development. Overall really good management
Really busy! There was always something to be working on and there was always different stretch projects and extra things to get involved in
A lot of responsibility from early on however there was always someone supervising projects
It was helpful it taught me a lot of administration and office skills and I learnt a lot of business skills. I'd never dealt with such high volume of data analysis before for such a high profile company so it was really interesting
The Company
Friendly I was based in reading which is a big office with lots of other placement students there's 5 buildings with great facilities and the team were great with lots of social activities
Really good from recruitment to leaving there was a lot of communication about the different opportunities. Great structure and well organized
There was more than enough with the day to day job. It was a great opportunity to learn new skills with people who knew a lot and had a lot of experience
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
National Travel
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Really appealing but the graduate programme is so much lower intake than the placement so its really competitive
The Culture
Yes reading was a great place to be based as there was a lot of different placement students and a lot of us shared houses so it was a lot like uni!
Fairly cheap if you shared housing but going out was expensive compared to student union
Quite good but there wasn't many student nights and the clubs were fairly dated
There was a football team and other sports activities and lots of clubs on campus
