The Role
My time at TNT was genuinely one of the most rewarding times of my working life and university life. Looking back it's difficult to understand how I ever thought I could go into a job after university without the experience I've gained during my time at university. The work was enjoyable and the people I worked with are people I would consider friends who I hope to maintain contact with.
Both the type of work I was completing and the manner in which I was allowed to work on a daily basis made me feel like a highly valued member of the team, despite my juniority. I was able to help with large scale projects such as the launching of a new website and running of national campaigns which made me feel like work I was doing was providing a tangible value to the business, nothing that would be considered a "traditional intern task".
The management at TNT were helpful from the time I joined to the time I was preparing for life back at university. Conscientious and understanding, my development was always perceived as an understanding of my line managers. My experience with management has TNT has given me an insight of the kind of manager I would like to one day be.
I don't think I can recall a quiet day during my time at TNT! Having done work experience in a few other offices, one of the worst things was feeling bored and having nothing to do, which I never experienced at TNT. My work kept me busy on a day to day basis but never left me stressed during my evenings or weekends.
Straight off the bat I was entrusted with every social media channel TNT had, allowing me to fully own my work and giving me confidence in the work I was doing. Over my time I was trusted with updating websites, running campaigns and writing copy. This responsibility allowed me to develop at a rate quicker than would've otherwise been possible as I was able to be involved in many areas of marketing often unavailable in other companies for someone at placement level.
The skills I have acquired and developed over my time at TNT will give me and edge in both my university work and my further career post-uni. Looking back at previous coursework I've done, there are areas I wish I had my current knowledge so I could improve my work and achieve more.
The Company
The digital team is full of people who are friendly, funny and are ultimately very talented in their roles. If ever I was stuck or had an issue at work there was always someone willing to help me. Often members of the wider team go to lunch together and occasionally go for drinks.
After my initial induction period, I was made to feel like any other employee which is exactly what I wanted. To be able to engross myself fully into the role as if I were a permanent employee.
My line managers showed every faith in me and I felt like my development was their priority. There was a plethora of opportunities made available to me including courses, conferences and industry events. The amount TNT invested in my development surprised me given that I was only a temporary employee.

With the digital team growing and the emphasis on TNT being a business that leads the way in the digital arena of the logistics industry; there is the workload and a team mentality that would make anyone proud to work in the digital team at TNT. With a need for people with a good work ethic - there is plenty of work still to do at TNT and there is a resource requirement for it.
The Culture
Often members of the digital team and wider marketing department would have a group lunch. There were a few staff socials arranged over the year as well that would be hosted at nearby cities such as Birmingham or Coventry.
The local shops are quite cheap if you need to pick something up at lunch however the choice is quite limited.
There were a few pubs that were visited on Fridays but not much else, which isn't so bad if you just want to go for the social aspect after work anyway.
Aside from events organised within the teams such as trips to the pub or staff socials there wasn't much else in terms of opportunities for out of work activities. However, I'm not sure how much more could have been done realistically.
