The Role
I loved every minute of working for Lidl! I feel the experience gained throughout my placement year is totally invaluable. I have already reccommended the placement to students at my university interested in a placement. Being able to work in all areas of the business is something that gives you the best insight into how Lidl operates.
Throughout my whole placement I feel I was always valued as an employee and never made to feel like a student. When working in different departments in the company I was given the opportunity to be able to physically do the jobs that are undertaken by emplyees at Lidl. Everyone has been so welcoming and massively influential to me.
Throughout the placement at Lidl even though I worked within different departments I had a Regional Training Manager that would oversea myself. He was fantasic throughout the whole year, whenever I had an questions or problems he was the first to direct and guide me. Also within the specific departments everyone was always willing to help and support me throughout my placement year.
Working at Lidl is can be demanding, but extremely worth while. When working within any department you are always given a job role to perform on a daily basis. As well as this there are other projects that are set to the placement students that run throughout the year, so there always something to do!
This is something that I feel Lidl's placement exceeds in! From day one whether that be working in store or working within the office you are given a lot of responsibility. There are times when you may get chance to manage people which is a brilliant opportunity. When working within the office and you perform tasks that cooperate in the functioning of the business.
I feel that the experience of working for Lidl is something that has only massivley enhanced my skills developed that I can now transfer to my university studies. Having the real life experience to be able to take and intergrate into my degree is something that I feel can set my above the rest of students.
The Company
Brilliant! I have never enjoyed going into work as much as I have thoughout my placement. Everyone that I had the opportunity of working with was fantastic. Within all departments evryone is like a family that can work hard and enjoy coming to work.
I can not in any way fault how the placement was organised, Our placement co-ordinator in head office works extremely hard to ensure that the year is structured and as enjoyable as possible. On my first day I was given a file that broke down the year into modules to explain what I was going to be doing. Another aspect of Lidl's placement is that you get to mold you placement into what you want it to involve, this gives you the ability to be able to organise your own placement.
Throughout the whole year I had training within all departments across the business being included in everything that was happening. I had the opportunity to work in Head Office in London fully expensed to be able to see how they operate. I have been involved training sessions internally and externally in things such as leadership training and excel training. I feel as though a lot of time and money is invested in their placement students throughout the year.

Lidl is expanding rapidly throughout the UK and Europe, this means expansion is something that is happening at a fast pace. There are jobs being advertised daily to meet the demand of the expansion. I would deffinatley say it is a very appealing company to be able to have a career with.
The Culture
Throughout the year placement students are invited to our national training centre where all the students get together. This is a brilliant opprotunity to be able to speak amongst the other placement students and compare experiences. While working in Head Office you stay with the other placement students so have the opportunity for many social events.
As I already lived in the area this was no different to normal for me. It is resonable compared to other areas in the country.
Again as I already lived in the area this is something that didnt effect my placement.
Within work there are different opportunities to be able to be involved in activities outside work. There are different sporting activities that are arranged by employees and work. Work parties are aswell always great as everyone really gets involved.
