The Role
I have really enjoyed my placement. Especially, the variety of work and jobs to do for people. However, it hasn't been that intellectually challenge.
The team I am working in all know me by my first name. I am invited out to all of their drinks and other social activities. They often say well done after I have finished a job and say how they appreciate me doing it for them. This has meant a lot.
Feel very well supported.
On occasions, I not had quite enough work to do, but on the whole, I feel they have given me enough to do.
Because I was supporting members of the team on larger, often complex cases, I had a bit of responsibility wouldn't be able to take on a whole case. However, I have been able to sort out some smaller jobs on my own, such as arranging for engineers to come out and chasing the utilities companies on behalf of our clients.
It has helped me to see part of the process of how a property is values, including site visits, using the comps ect. I have also seen Land Lord and Tenant applied in the real world. It has also given me abetter appreciation of the department teams within Savills and the differences and overlaps between the teams. In addition, it has given me a better awareness of different property markets
The Company
Punchy. Quite busy at time. Also, sociable specially in the breakout team. Quite corporate feel.
Very well organised. There were plenty of events for interns to attend, from walking tours of the City of London to Department overviews.
I didn't receive any formal training or development, although there were department overviews, psychometric tests and objectives you had to set yourself.
Company Parties/Events
Very. They take on loads of grads. So many departments to go into although places are competitive especially for permanent seats in the most popular teams.
The Culture
Reasonable, but not every night. Although, that would have been exhausting form travelling in from Reading to Oxford Circus and quite expensive.
VERY expensive. Travel card covering underground and trains into Reading came to £477. Lunch ranged form £3-7. Drinks weren't too bad, although I only had non-alcoholic ones. Eating out could be done on a budget but it depends on where colleagues want to go.
Very good. Plenty of places to eat and drink. Also, clubs and bars nearby if that's your sort of thing.
A softball tournament and drinks after work. Arranged other prinks ect amongst the grads.
