The Role
Some good elements and good experiences although a steep learning curve and some mundane parts once into the routine. Pretty much the same as a permanent job in that respect!
Team fully embrace me, considered one of the team. New manager showed a slight disinterest in keeping a student in the team but was definitely a minority.
Both my managers and supervisor were willing to give support at any time and no matter how busy they were. My supervisor often checked in with me, in order to offer support or guidance with any issues. However, the work that you are delegated at Accenture provides the opportunity to use your own initiative to solve problems and reach a conclusion.
Personally, I was extremely busy on a daily basis, as I had a number of tasks that I was responsible for. However, this is the way that I like to work. As my placement progressed, I desired more and more responsibility as a result of the genuine interest that I had in the project work. There is always the opportunity to ask for more responsibility and contrastingly, there is always someone to talk to if you cannot manage your workload. Therefore, I would conclude that this role is able to provide the perfect balance of workload.
From the very first day, I was given pertinent tasks that contributed to each and every step of the project lifecycle. I was given the opportunity to ask for more responsibility throughout my placement, which enabled me to take on new challenged on a daily basis. I have found that there is always work that can be done. Therefore, if you ever require more responsibility, you can always ask a colleague if they require assistance with any work that they are undertaking. This will enable you to increase your responsibility and always develop your skillset by contributing to work, which addresses all aspects of the delivery lifecycle.
Systems used were applicable within other companies as is project work and communication. Hope to have more opportunities to develop throughout the remainder of the placement.
The Company
I have never worked in a better atmosphere than in the office that I was based. Everyone was extremely friendly and offered to share their experience and advice whenever it was required. Every member of the team was very close, which created an incomparable team spirit both in and out of the workplace.
Little vague when starting - was told there would be an induction day with other students and never received notice. Took about a month for someone supporting placement students to get in touch but now a much better support environment.
I believe that Accenture invested a lot in terms of personal training and developement. The scheme began with a week long training week, which involved numerous interesting activities, allowing for the devlopment of key skills/competencies. This training also provided the necessary pre-requisite for the project placement

Getting on the placement scheme guarantees me a place on the grad scheme which is great, just not sure at the moment whether it's the right industry for me.
The Culture
Day trip with other placement students, chatted most weeks and spent an evening in London. Possibly could have been better provision from company before starting/in first weeks to create a support network.
Renting near to office - expensive, Other costs - fairly average
Bar on site but rarely used; good local pub but nothing besides that.
There were many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work. Every week I took part in the weekly football social. Unilever offer opportunities within a number of number sports and activities, ranging from Basketball to Rock Climbing. Whatever it is that you are interested in, Unilever provide an opportunity for everyone to get involved.
