The Role
It was a good time here. I got to learn new technologies and hopefully I can utilize them in the future.
My team is friendly and quite decorous. I made some great friends from within my team as well as outside of my team. I got to learn a lot from my supervisors. Special thanks to Brian D'Arcy, who's very supportive and encouraging. He is also a great person and helpful enough.
My supervisors were very supportive and helpful. We have weekly meetings regularly where we discuss the progress of my project. I used to discuss some new ideas that I could try and they would guide me whenever necessary.
Initially I was quite busy during the first 3 months. But later, the project became a bit too slow because the data was inadequate and I hit a dead end sort of situation. After that, I started working on other aspects of my project and concentrated on writing my thesis.
As an intern, I wouldn't say I was responsible for running the show. But still, from the perspective of this project, I would say it was a good enough investment for them.
I am very interested in going into Big data and machine learning. From what I learned here, I would be happy enough to utilize it in the future.
The Company
Usually it was quite. But we had some meetings often where we would be engaged in some interesting conversations about new ideas I could implement or new technologies I could learn.
I think if the data was sufficient enough to validate my results, the internship would have been perfect.
They trained me in Hadoop, HP Vertica, and some NLP algorithms, which I think is a good enough investment in terms of big data technologies.

Given that they have invested significantly in training me with their technologies, and that I liked it, I would be happy enough to continue working here.
The Culture
Well most of my fellow mates were always a good fun to hang out with. But nothing out of the ordinary happened with them.
Around 800-1000 euros per month. That's about 33% savings for a bachelor like me.
Usually I don't stay up all night long, but sometimes it was fine.
I am a part of Young Employees Network, and they go out once a month to some pubs or go bowling, or a boat trip. Apart from that, the sports and social club organize a grand party once in 3 months or so. So, lots of opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work.
