The Role
Greatly! Like all jobs it has its positives and negatives but to make the most of your time here you have to take the lead role. Put yourself forward for various assignments and select suitable/interesting roles as your placements.
From day 1 was treated like a full time employee; was given relevant tasks and held accountable. This put a lot of responsibility on me but I was supported throughout my time here and really made to feel part of the team
Same as the previous answer really, had regular (informal) reviews with my line manager which gave me a sense of direction. all the staff are extremely welcoming and easy to chat to for any advice relating to work or outside of it.
Fairly busy. there were a few off days and a few ridiculously hectic days but the unpredictability is what makes it worth getting up in the morning.
Tonnes! Like I said earlier, you are treated like a full member and are expected to produce output. Weren't made to feel overwhelmed but you are expected to struggle through some tasks and find your way up but there is always help at hand.
I designed my placement so that it supported my degree and aligned with my interests. during the placement I did however find out that some stuff that I enjoyed studying was completely different in a working environment and not as much 'fun' as I expected and vice versa so it was an eye-opener. Although, the skills developed will surely come in handy when going back to university and it will result in me being a more confident person.
The Company
It was fantastic! Lots of friendly banter but there was always support and help provided if needed; you will be picked on as an undergrad/intern but that overtime will help you develop a thick skin --> another great skill to have for the rest of your life!
Very well. Everything was in place since the 1st day of induction and the best part is that we tailor the placement according to our needs/requirements so it depends more on you than any other person.
They are investing their time + money for a year on you so surely they value you; and at this point they are putting more in you than gaining out of you, which says a LOT about how much they value their interns and their focus on development of future engineers.

Like stated above, they invested a year in you so they would rather you come back and work for them then anywhere else. To add on, there is a lot of work going on and a huge demand for young employees to mould into a professional so great prospects.
The Culture
Lots of parties, xmas/birthday dos to go with the regular charity events. There is also a huge pool of grads/undergrads to mix with so you are never left short on a weekend.
Fairly cheap compared to where I am at university, and that for a decent night out and a fully furnished studio apartment - can't complain really being paid to work and have a life (coming off from the back of living on student finance!)
Not much where the office is based but the surrounding towns are perfect because there are a few universities nearby.
Depends on you as a person and how much you put yourself out there but the honest truth is - YES! loads of them and you just have to build a network to find them.
