The Role
I really enjoyed my placement. I got to learn and develop new and important IT skills that I feel will help me in my future career and final year at university.
Very valued. They made me feel very welcome and treated me as part of the team. They would often ask me for help or my opinion on certain aspects of work.
My managers were superb. Bill help and guided me extremely well at the start when I was maybe having a few doubt and struggling to understand the work. He helped install confidence in me and this in turn made me feel that I worked to my full potential. Sinead for the sort time that shes been with hp was very supportive and encouraging with the work I was carrying out.
I was quite busy during the day. I would have been given my alm sessions at the start of the week and worked through them quite efficiently throughout the week.
I was given a lot of responsibility during my placement as I was the person who mainly tested the UEK OS.
I think I will help me to a certain extent. I gained more skills in installation of operating systems onto servers and also developed my knowledge of switches and fabrics.
The Company
There was a very good and positive atmosphere in the office in the fact that all the team get along extremely well and have a bit of banter among themselves so there is an element of a relaxed atmosphere as well.
Extremely well set up in that communication before I started was well established between myself and Bill and when I arrived the transition of settling in was quite straight forward.
Not an awful lot the only real training I received was the help from my co-workers in that they explained to me what they actually do. I done a few online course to help get myself familiar with Linux system a bit more but it wasn't relevant to the work or responsibilities I needed to do.

Very appealing i really enjoyed my time and met a lot of good friends so i would love to come back if the opportunity arose.
The Culture
Yes I made some friends for life and we would have went out quite a lot together at the weekends.
Grand not too expensive but not cheap at the same time.
Excellent night life around Belfast with bars, pups and clubs located anywhere you look.
Not really. No real societies or clubs set up. The only real time you would get out is storage week where they do various activities throughout storage week.
