About You
The two weeks of work experience was great, everyone was really friendly and you got a good insight into the firm. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to do a vacation scheme at a law firm. It was really well organised and run.
It is difficult to feel like a full member of the team as you are not yet a qualified lawyer, however everyone was really inclusive and willing to explain things to you, You also received feedback on your work, which was really helpful, and was thanked when you did a good job, which was really nice.
Graduate recruitment are always available to talk to if you need support or have queries and your training buddy/supervisor/ person setting the work are all approachable and willing to answer questions.
The interview process, presentation and general work are all useful experiences to have.
The Company
The only suggestion was they could have had the dinner social/ presentation spread out a bit more, but besides from this there was a good mix of partner presentations, socials and working in your department.
Everyone regardless of who they were or what they did within CMS was really friendly and approachable. It made it a really nice atmosphere to have work experience in.
People gave you feedback on your work and advice and so this was helpful. Obviously for a two week placement it is not going to be huge but they gave you the best view and oppurtunities they could.
It gave a great if a bit short insight into the firm and what it is like to work there.
It was a great insight into the culture of the firm (and how nice it is!)
It wasn't valuable in the sense in which I know I already want to pursue a future career in law but it was good at persuading me to pursue it even more.
Everything Else
I was paid £500 for two weeks, which is enough to cover
Yes, you attend presentations where you meet partners/associates/trainees/employees from different parts of the firm. There are also social oppurtunities to meet trainees.
There was a dinner scoial, a cocktail social and a drinks social so plenty of oppurtunities.
Yes, there was a presentation on CSR and pro bono work.
