    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I feel that I have been valued by my colleague a lot. Using a profressional communication, I have created many excellent relationships within my team and with clients at evens that I have been able to attend. I feel that my colleagues trust me and are able to ask me to reports or other ad hoc work when required with confidence that I will have it done.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The support that you get on placement at IBM is fantastic. My manager was friendly, encouraging me to ask questions when neccessary. Additionally, having 3, 6 and 9 month reviews with your manager and your professional development manager allowed me to correct and questions and issues that I came across throughout my year.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I feel that I have been busy on a daily basis, some days busier than others and depending on the time of the year. IBM encourage you to help out with events at universities etc which can fill up a few quiet days you have throughout the year.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I feel I was given enough responsibility to work under pressure often and increase my skill set. Help and guidance was given when needed though.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I feel that many of the skills I have developed at IBM will help my with my future studies and completing my degree. Working under pressure and to tight deadlines will help me with all of my coursework, as well as all the research I have completed this year helping with my exams.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There is a great social scene at all of the locations, as there are many placement students at each. Most live together, and there is usually a specific evening where they all meet up for a drink after work and catch up.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The cost of living is different depending on where you live. London is the most expensive but affordable with the wage you are on. The socialising is great there too!
