The Role
I had a great time at Savills, they put on a number of networking events where you were able to meet other employees. They also organised two tours of the City over our time here and a softball social. Everyone I met was extremely friendly and I would definitely apply to come back.
I was given more responsibility than I initially thought I would be which made me feel like an important member of the team.
If I was allocated work by someone not in the office I was able to ask anyone within the team who were all willing to help, or I was able to ring and ask them to explain fully. Every member of the team had time to help me to understand the industry.
I was kept very busy during my time at Savills, although if there was a time where my work load was low I was able to ask around the department and someone would need help.
I was given more responsibility than I initially thought. This allowed me to get fully involved in the projects at hand and meant I was able to learn more than I would have otherwise.
I have had a great insight into the property industry, which will provide me with a large advantage when I start my further studies.
The Company
My department had a very relaxed feel, although people worked hard there was also time to catch up and have a chat at lunch.
The placement was very well organised by HR who ensured we never had any problems or issues. The events run were informative and the online connect page for summer students was a useful tool.
If I had any queries members of my team were always willing to take time out to explain how to carry out tasks. There was also plenty of opportunity to talk to directors and senior staff who would discuss their role within Savills.
I will be applying for further opportunities within Savills.
The Culture
The summer students had a number of pre-organised events by Savills but would also meet up and have drinks after work some evenings.
The cost of living in London is large, renting for the 4 weeks in the area would not have been practical but the wage paid by Savills covered food and transport costs.
There were a number of Pubs in close proximity to the office which were always busy in the evenings after work.
We were able to play softball once with summer students and graduates, however it would have been good to do this more often over the month.
