The Role
I was a bit unlucky to be given a 'boring' job - data collection. But the internship scheme manager has been very kind and tried to the best he can to help each one of us. Also, there are many social events being organised throughout the scheme and I have met other people who have now become good friends of mine.
It took a bit of time to get to know the people in my team, but they have all been very nice to me and they have given me the impression that they value my work very much.
My buddy is very helpful - before the scheme started, he sent me an email introducing himself and the team; after I arrived, though it took a while for us to get to know each other, he has been very kind and supportive, not only towards my work, but also my personal life.
My task is a huge one, hence it is essentially my responsibility to organize the work in a balanced way - as long as I finished it on time.
I was given the task of collecting data - though a bit dull, I understand that this is very important for the future analysing work; hence I would say that I still have quite a responsibility
My course at university provided me with a very good understanding of the background of the work I do, therefore I can easily pick up the data required.
The Company
Everyone is very friendly and is willing to help each other, the atmosphere is quite relaxing as well, the path is very good
We have daily work - on top of that, we also have group presentation, tours to central offices, and interview preparation setup session; I would say that the placement is very well organized.
We had a complete training day - we received proper IT training and etc; each group also had individual training the next day
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Deloitte would be a good place to start the career - as a big company it is very professional in terms of training, looking after clients' confidentiality etc
The Culture
Yes, all the interns met each other right at the beginning - we also have events such as intern dinner, softball, pub night out etc
It was quite expensive - it's London afterall
Lots of pubs around
Yes, the company and the department often organizes activities after work - drinks and food provided - very good opportunities to meet up with friends and hang out.
