About You
The oil and gas talent academy was extremely enjoyable. The staff had put a lot of work into organising different Q+As and activities which made the time fly by.
The whole experience really made me think that Pwc were interested in me and my future. They made a strong pitch about how they were best placed to give us all the opportunities we could ask for in a career. They left the impression that they really do care about my future career progression.
Staff were always available to answer questions about any activities we were stuck with. In addition, we were able to ask lots of questions to Pwc's Aberdeen staff and industries professionals. Such information can certainly be used to guide me on future career choices.
The programme gave me a huge insight into the oil and gas industry and Pwc's role in assisting the industry in troubled times. As someone who sees their future in and around the industry, such information will be vital in future interviews etc. and the subsequent roles.
The Company
The event was well structured as at no point did I feel bored with what was going on. There was a strong mix of presentations and activities which ensured the days were very interesting and flew by. Having the assessment centre on the Wednesday was also a good idea.
There was a great atmosphere with a fantastic range of people spreading over 12 universities. It allowed us to mix with people who we would not normally meet. The quiz night and dinner allowed us to get to know each other pretty well by the end of the event.
The company invested in us by giving us the time of senior figures in the office and industry experts to question them and soak up their knowledge. This knowledge has already given me a fresh insight into what I want to do when I leave university.
The event gave us a taster of the roles a pwc employee could perform in relation to the oil and has industry. The chance to network with some of the firm's junior employees gave us all a better idea of what the typical day of a pwc employed involves.
The event clearly emphasised how important it is for pwc not just to meet client expectations but exceed them. In addition, speaking with staff allowed me to see that if you are willing to work hard, you will get the rewards.
The event was extremely influential in helping me choose my future career path. I am now going to go all out for a graduate role at Pwc!!
Everything Else
Travel expenses were reimbursed for those who required it. Hotel accommodation was given to all attendees and all food and drink was provided.
There were chances to network with senior staff at the formal dinner on the first night. There were also networking opportunities with junior staff at the quiz night. In addition there were many Q+ A sessions with senior staff throughout the event.
The staff were all extremely friendly and willing to take the time to speak to all of is and answer a variety of questions. The events were great fun and allowed us to really get to know the other people at the academy.
We got to ask employees about these opportunities at the event. It was explained that there was a wide variety of sports teams, volunteering opportunities etc available at the firm. Staff certainly believed that there were plenty of opportunities on offer.
I would recommend it to anyone in a heartbeat. If anyone wants to gain greater insight into the oil and has industry and the role Pwc has in it, this is an unbelievable opportunity to gain experience and chat to some very interesting people.
