The Role
An incredible opportunity to experience Paris in a comfortable environment facilitated entirely by Savills. An excellent chance to learn a great deal about property services outside of the UK.
My thoughts were always noted and I was always made to feel heard in the team however it is easy to accept that you have the lowest experience of the office and despite best efforts it is impossible to feel completely valued.
Excellent support and guidance from both English and French members of the team who always encouraged me to take on what I was interested in taking on rather than performing menial tasks for the sake of occupancy.
Relatively however Summer is a quieter time of the year and it is difficult to find important things to do all of the time when there is minimal experience as an intern. That said, with proactively there was always something I was doing.
Very little but that is to be expected of the team member with the least experience. In spite of that I was given a valuation report to do on my own to be later verified, which I would count as a relative amount of faith and responsibility invested in me.
The experience will no doubt come in useful during my MSc degree as well as my desires to work in France again during/after qualifying.
The Company
Friendly and cooperative.
Being the only summer intern it was difficult for the team to create a well structured organised month for me, as such most of the work carried out was on an ad hoc basis.
Somewhat, it was more of an indirect investment where I was given the opportunity to use my French, learn about lease structures in France and how valuations are carried out here.
Very, particularly with regard to the firm's European opportunities.
The Culture
I was the only summer intern. However a good social scene with the rest of the team.
It's Paris... so high. But not as high as certain areas of London.
Non-existent. The Parisian nightlife is away from the offices however there are a few British and Irish pubs that were somewhat lively.
There was a property fun run on one of the weekends and informal opportunities for socialising outside of work.
