The Role
At the beginning it was just like a 9-5 job and I didn't really enjoy that, I then moved onto my own projects which I really flew with. I also met a lot of interesting people.
I feel that because I was an intern that my suggestions wasn't taken seriously as to others, even if my suggestions were agreed on by high management. So it has a been a bit of struggle in that sense but that is just with the minority and the majority really valued me as a team member.
My manager was really busy in meeting and never seemed to be at his desk, she when he provided me with projects and needed assistance he wasn't there. Thankfully one of the supervisors was very good and so helpful and to this day we do a lot of projects together and assist on another.
The majority of my work came from urgent request from my manager, however it depends how often they come. But I do have task that I perform on a weekly basis. The rest of my work was business improvement and general my own projects that I wanted to be involved in.
I feel that I wasn't given a lot of responsibility, some of the task were very important however I don't feel like I was given that huge project with huge responsibility.
I learnt a lot about a tool called salesforce, which is used in a lot of big business all over the world, so I see potential in that. The main thing I learnt was how a business really functions and just little things really that will make a big difference in the way I act in the future.
The Company
It was really calm, and not too quiet. There was times where departments got had a laugh and a joke (including myself) but I don't believe anyone saw this as a problem,
As I was the apart of the first intern to start at Siemens, no one really knew how to deal with us, we was like the guinea pigs. However I have been apart of recruiting the new interns and I have done a lot of work to ensure that the next intern who will take my place has a pack that contains everything that she needs to know, all of which I learn over the full year I was working there.
Nothing really, I wanted to go on training courses however when I suggested them to my supervisor they got shot down.

Working from home
I will be working part time when I return back at university as the knowledge that I have is too valuable to them, and there is the graduate scheme that I will be looking into
The Culture
There was a development program that all the interns from across the UK all got to attend, the days were very beneficial there was a big social event at the end. There is a lot of events that happen within the business too, main one being years end where everyone attends. But there is also lots of little ones too.
I lived in the area anyway so I believe that it's quite cheap.
I think it's reasonable, Lincoln isn't a major city but I'm sure there are worse places to go for a night out.
There is a lot of sports activities that people get involved in with each other including going to the gym, a lot is organized by ourselves and not from the business.
