    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed this placement in the recruitment team at PwC. Throughout the year I was given a lot more responsibility and the role was really varied.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was given lots of responsibility towards the end of the year which helped me feel valued by my team.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was assigned a people manager and an informal buddy who I met with regularly to discuss development goals and go over feedback I had obtained. They helped me to set some performance goals that I was assessed against at the end of the year.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • During busy season there were definitely a few late nights but that was just to high volumes of candidates applying to PwC, during the summer months it got a lot quieter and I was able to get involved in different projects that I would not normally be involved in.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • As the year progressed I was given more responsibility over processing applications as well as running assessment days.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • This was great experience working in a large office environment which I did not previous have so that will help a lot when applying for graduate jobs, but in terms of my degree I learned lots of excel that I am sure will help back at University.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • My team was extremely sociable as was the rest of the office with regular team lunches and nights out, as well as whole office charity events etc.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I did not find out which role I had been placed in until a few weeks before joining the firm, which could have been communicated to me earlier, but overall it has run very smoothly.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was sent on multiple training courses at the beginning of my placement that would allow me to run assessment days and assess students in the group exercise element of the assessment day. I was also allowed to complete shadowing in other areas of PwC which really helped my development.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?

  • We would generally go to pubs/bars near the office but if we were heading for a night out it could have been anywhere over London.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were lots of sports teams, but generally you were left to find them yourself on the PwC intranet which was quite simple. There were often charity events that the whole firm was encouraged to get involved with etc as well as a pantomime, sailing trip and lots more.
