The Role
The work is tough but the development is great. You need to be adaptive in order to keep your head about the water in the fast paced environment.
This is very much dependent on the team you are working with on each client. The firm has recruited people who are very like minded so it is quite unusual to feel like you are not valued by colleagues. This is a possibility, but I think that this is natural as you meet so many people, you are bound to find some who aren't as welcoming and friendly.
PwC provide individual People Managers who are primarily there for support. I found this extremely useful during the year as I was able to voice my concerns and feel listened to.
As expected with the nature of Audit. The workload can be enormous as you struggle to balance Professional qualification training on top of an already demanding job that audit is.
The junior work is audit is primarily your responsibility. Work assigned to you is 100% owned by you. You have the task of completing this work and being prepared to answer questions if managers have any qualms or queries on the work performed.
The professional qualification and the business exposure you get from the job is fantastic. The skills and knowledge you obtain on the placement definitely help in securing a full time job and allowing you to become halfway there to becoming a chartered ACA accountant.
The Company
Very friendly and a size that's perfect. You feel like a person rather than a number, which I feel may be the case in some of the larger offices.
PwC provide a very structured graduate scheme which the placements follow. There is a clear aim and direction to work throughout the year which allows you to have a focus.
The firm invest in you equal to what they would invest into a graduate starting at the firm.

Very appealing. I am likely to return as there is a very high chance of receiving a graduate job offer upon return after finishing university.
The Culture
The work socials at the firm are generally funded completely by the firm and the locations of events as usually high profile.
I lived in Loughborough paying around £4,000 for the year renting out a 2 bed shared apartment. The social life for me was still great as I regularly returned to the university to join university peers on the nightlife.
Okay if you are a student
