    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The vacation scheme was highly enjoyable. I feel I gained real insight into Taylor Wessing's unique culture and practice areas, while affirming my decision to pursue a career in commercial law.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • As in inevitable in a placement only two weeks long, I could not make a deep contribution to the departments I sat in. Nevertheless, I had plenty of work in both seats, enough that I felt I was really learning about the practice areas and making a contribution to transactions. Outside of work, I felt truly welcomed by all members of the firm.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • The buddy and supervisor system in place was highly sophisticated, and they were always their to either give work, answer queries or just for a general chat about my day.

    5/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I definitely learnt a lot about my chosen practice areas, and have gained more skills suited to the legal workplace, including presentation skills, time management and communication.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was particularly well structured. Focus sessions were held most mornings, which introduced us to many facets of Taylor Wessing's practices, and provided a reprieve from our desks. Still, there was ample time to complete the not insignificant amount of work in our departments. There were also two socials and several drinks events (sometimes not scheduled by HR but by the practice area) that provided good opportunities to socialise informally and let our hair down.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Highly engaging - I especially felt welcomed by the people.

    4/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I felt Taylor Wessing equipped us with all the necessary information to deal with our seats, and also endeavoured to further our general skills. As for many of us, this was our first such placement, the care they took with us is invaluable.

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The vacation scheme provided an honest insight into the reality of working inside the City. There were even days when I had to take bits of research home to complete, and days when I stayed a little later than usual. However, it also highlighted the exhilarating aspects of the job, both in and out the office.

    4/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Taylor Wessing's unique focus and culture was apparent across all seats, focus sessions and through our research for our final group presentations.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • I now feel much better informed in my career choice.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • As I live and study in London, the pay was more than adequate. For others coming from further afield, it did not cover all expenses of accommodation and travel.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Plenty, from the welcoming drinks to the values lunch at the end. Members of each practice area also made a concerted effort to get to know the vacation schemers.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Very good.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • I was able to attend a pro bono activity in the first week, which was highly engaging.

    4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Yes, I would.
