    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?

    • The vacation scheme was really good all the way through. Everyone was really helpful and friendly and willing to help when it was needed. Work was varied and we were given the opportunity to attend tribunals and sit in on client calls.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?

    • As the work we were doing was 'live' work, I think our contribution was really valued. Some of the work I did was sent to clients so it felt as if I was making a difference.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?

    • Guidance and support was always readily available, from both my trainee buddy and other members of the team. Nobody was too busy to answers any questions or clarify things before starting a task.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

    • I have already graduated, but think the skills I have learnt will definitely help in my future career.

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?

    • Really well structured and organised. Everything ran smoothly throughout.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?

    • My team was a bit quiet, but I think that's just because they're really busy!

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?

    • Firm offered practice group presentations almost every day throughout the scheme to show us different areas of the business. I was also able to go along to a team update meeting on recent case decisions and how they would impact their practice.

    • Given real work as a trainee would be given.

    • Heard mixed things about the firm before starting the placement, but actually found that everyone is really friendly, willing to help and keen for us to do well.

    • Gained a real insight into the firm and what it's like to work as a lawyer!

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

    • Being paid was a bonus!

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?

    • Social events, office drinks and lunches. We were also able to speak to other people directly if we wanted some further information.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?

    • Pizza making, comedy club outing and a lunch with some of the firm's partners. All a great opportunity to get to know people in a not so formal setting.

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?

    • Plenty of sports events going on and always opportunities to start new activities.

    • I'd definitely recommend it. Better than other schemes I have done.
