About You
I really enjoyed my two weeks at Pinsent Masons. Sitting in one department for two weeks really allowed me to bond with the team and the daily practice presentations from all the other teams allowed me to simultaneously gain an insight into the firm's wider work.
I felt really valued, I was given some really difficult work that involved high profile matters. Here in Manchester they really treated you as a potential trainee.
A really good amount, my supervisor and trainee buddy were always there if I needed them, but at the same time allowed me to be independent and mix with other members of the team. My trainee buddy as fantastic and introduced me to everyone!
The placement has reinforced my drive to do well in my degree, but I am not sure if I have learnt any specific skills here that will help me with my degree.
The Company
Very structured, practice group presentations every morning and then 'work based learning' in our practice groups everyday. As well as socials and lunches.
I cannot vouch for the other offices but the Manchester office was the friendliest place I have ever been! Everyone was supportive and encouraging. The trainees were amazing and organised some really good socials such as break out Manchester and cocktail making. We also went to the offices Friday drinks which was really insightful - they know how to have fun!
We had a general induction down in London where the firm's outgoing managing partner spoke to us and then back in our 'home' offices we had lots of IT training.
Everyone was open and honest about their work life balance. Further, as we had such a great relationship with all the trainees they gave us a really honest insight.
It helped me to understand the culture in the Manchester office, however, there may be a different culture in the London or other regional offices.
It reinforced that this is what I want to do.
Everything Else
£300 a week
Yes, there were trainee run events, a partner lunch, a secondment lunch and office drinks every Friday.
Really fun and relaxed. They really were an opportunity to ask questions and understand the culture of the firm.
Not really.
Yes!
