About You
The work was very challenging, but always engaging and interesting; a fantastic insight into the work and culture of the firm.
I feel like the work I was asked to undertake has been of genuine value and that those I did the work for were appreciative of the effort I put in.
With both a trainee as my buddy and a senior associate supervising me, I always felt it was very easy to ask questions and get quick, helpful replies. Even the team members not directly involved in the summer scheme were willing to give constructive criticism for the work I did for them.
I gained a great deal of insight into the every day work of a city law firm and picked up key skills in research, presenting and reporting the information I gathered, that will be of great use in my further studies.
The Company
With a two day introduction to the firm, regularly scheduled socials and catch-up meetings and assessment, the insight was structured enough that you knew a lot of time and effort had been put into it, but not so overbearing that you didn't get a feel for how the firm actually operated day-to-day.
Friendly, fun and welcoming, but always encouraging and pushing you to do your best.
The firm gave us IT training, a project to work on to develop presentation skills, a networking session and within my department, I was pushed to develop skills that will be necessary for a career as a commercial lawyer.
Spending three weeks within a single department really allowed me to get to know the team there and I engaged in a wide variety of work that really exposed me to the breadth of cases the firm deals with.
We were always made to feel like part of the team and invited to the various socials, events and dinners hosted by the firm. I really saw how the firm treats its employees well and how the company encourages hard work, but also allows its employees to have a fun social side to work as well.
Immeasurably.
Everything Else
Expenses were reimbursed plus extra.
Yes, we regularly met with trainees, associates and even at one point some of the partners at the firm.
With a pub quiz, scavenger hunt and several drinks evenings, the social events were an excellent way to end a hard day's work.
We were informed of the many out of work schemes Nabarro employees can get involved in, from charity work to sports teams being the two main examples.
Definitely.
