The Role
Really enjoyed my placement year as provided a wide range of activities. Also learnt so much such as advanced desktop publishing skills that really aided me in my final year at university. Also the organisation was very helpful to me in my final year at university offering their help in key projects.
Everyone was so friendly and made me feel so at home. As a student I certainly wasn't treated as an outsider and the jobs given to me were interesting and varied and good experience in preparation for a career in marketing.
Excellent support, though was also allowed to work on my own devices/given some freedom to be creative and explore new opportunities.
Most of the time was busy - always had a list of tasks to be doing
A reasonable amount of responsibility was given to me - I would say a senisble amount. I still reported to a line manager who had the final say on bigger decisions.
As previously mentioned, the skills I learnt, not only experience of marketing tasks, but also getting to grips with day to day life in an office environment was invaluable.
The Company
Again was sensible. The team knew when to have fun but at the same time, the call centre manager ran a tight ship so you knew when to get your head down and work hard. I respected that.
Very organised - I had a weekly action plan. Because the company was small and I had replaced a previous student I had a defined role.
I received training on sales, marketing and insurance principles. All have been useful.
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
My predecessor and several other subsequent students have gone on to achieve permanent roles in the company. Four previous placement students are either senior managers or members of the board at Caravan Guard. One other previous placement student is enjoying a role as a senior member of the call centre team and is still heavily involved in market research projects.
The Culture
Yes went out several times with colleagues outside of work. Attended a number of caravan industry exhibitions and had some great nights out then too.
Very reasonable.
Some very good value nights out in Halifax. Of course you can pay a little more, get the train for a few pounds and get out in Leeds which is a fantastic night out.
Yes, various fundraisers as the company supports a number of local charities.
