The Role
I found that everyone was really willing to help me, I asked a ton of questions and everyone was really nice about it and took time out to help me. I also found the work nicely challenging - it was fun to be learn something new and I had so much help from everyone around me that it never felt like a struggle.
Everyone who I worked with was extremely friendly and helpful which made me feel part of the team right from day one. One of the things that impressed me most about EY was that there was no intimidating hierarchy, even the senior members of staff were always happy to answer any queries I may have had and take time out of their busy schedule to assist me.
Prior to the scheme all interns were allocated both a buddy (fairly new to the company too) and a champion (a more senior member of staff) who were always there to provide support throughout the duration of your placement. Not only that but as mentioned above all other members of staff were always happy to help.
Some days during my placement were much busier than others and on some occasions I found myself having to ask someone more senior than me if I could help them out with anything on a frequent basis. However this is largely due to the nature of the audit role itself in which the company relies heavily on information provided to them by the client.
The team I worked within were never afraid to give me a high level of client exposure with quite a large chunk of my work being focused around the audit testing itself which required me to work regularly with the clients finance team. I felt others had trust in the work I was doing and the jobs I was assigned were not dissimilar to those of the more senior employees.
The technical accountancy skills I learnt during my placement are unlikely to assist much in the remainder of my accountancy degree, however will be invaluable should I decide to continue down this career path. The interpersonal and time management skills I developed will be useful for any future studies/employment.
The Company
The general work environment both in the main EY office and out on client sights was extremely good and one of the things that I would emphasize when debating whether or not to join them.
There was a clear structure to the placement with my client locations being formalized well in advance of my start date, They were also flexible and happy to change one of my weeks locations due to the difficulty I would have had in travelling there.
Obviously as I was only there for a short period of time the training was limited. However the company funded both a regional induction day (in which meals and overnight hotel stay was paid for) and a service line training day in the EY office itself.

Company Parties/Events
EY is a company I would definitely like to work for in the future as I felt the work environment there suited me. They take on many graduates on both temporary summer positions and permanently post school/university.
The Culture
The company organised a couple of social events during my placement which enabled me to network with the other interns and people already in a permanent role at EY.
Living in London is very expensive both in terms of rent and socializing but at least in part socializing events were organised and paid for by the company
Very active London nightlife was a perk but opportunities to take advantage of it were limited because of the long hours.
There were some opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work, such as charity football matches and social events and activities organised by the firm for the interns.
