The Role
You're always given something to do, and it's not your typical tea-making internship! I was able to work on audits with some of the worlds largest companies, and being able to travel to their offices and locations to the 'behind-the-scenes' is an amazing experience.
The one thing that surprised me most is how friendly everyone is, even the other interns which you meet on a residential in the first week. PWC hunts for friendly people, and it really does show. Everyone in the office is great to be around and will help with even the most simplest of questions. Interestingly, managers and directors of the office are there too and you get to know them personally!
The PWC culture is to pass on information, so I was constantly being helped through things and people were teaching me the small details to make a big impact. Your superiors are always at hand to help out.
There's a good mix of having enough work to do, but also to finish at 5:30 (standard time). Work keeps you busy enough, then there are also E-learns to complete in your spare time, and even a dragons den project amongst all the interns.
Was immediately given access to financials of large companies turning over millions a year. A lot of responsibility very early on.
Real life application - Being able to see the real-life applications of accounting terms puts learning into perspective. Even in the business parts of my degree, I was able to see all the theories in practice at warehouses in some large companies.
The Company
Very friendly. Regional office (Southampton) is large, but you get to know many people that are there, so there's a strong unity. Socials are frequent too.
Started with a 3 day induction at an external resort with people all the way from Glasgow to Southampton, and PWC organised all 190 interns without any issues. That says it all! Seamless organisation till the very end
PWC spends a lot of money on you as an intern. 3 day residential, travel to different clients paid for, and numerous e-learns available too.
Sports and Social Club
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
94% of interns are offered a job!
The Culture
Always socials available, and there are always invites to them all. Variety too, so it's not all going to the pub.
Great if you're at home.
Great.
