The Role
Overall I was given challenging work which stretched me and gave me ample opportunity to develop myself and learn about consulting. The social aspect of the first also greatly enhanced my experience, as everyone is keen to go out after work and be socialise with colleagues.
I was treated not as an intern, but as a full time employee. I was given work on an equal level to a new graduate, and the expectations of me were the same. Once I built up trust I was often asked to do ad hoc work by various team members besides my line managers.
On both of my projects I was sit right opposite my line managers. Whenever I wanted feedback or help with a task they were more than happy to help me, and I would say that their feedback was what taught me the most about myself and allowed me to improve the most during the internship.
Every day I always had something to do and as an intern, I did not expect to be in a position whereby I would have to prioritise my workload. If I didn't have anything to do, my manager put me in contact with somebody who did.
During my placement I had a lot of responsibility particularly in terms of a project I carried out which would determine the security of secure locations within the bank. The client on boarding process was particularly interesting but also very important as any minor errors could lead to clients not being on boarded on time, costing money.
The ethos of hard work and drive shall certainly benefit me in my degree studies but even more so when I join next year.
The Company
Very positive, everybody took time out to talk to me but it was also very serious thanks to the ambition everybody at the bank had to do well.
It was alright, some hiccups in the first few days regarding login credentials and work station set up. The lack of a permanent desk may have been an issue for some but I felt it was okay.
Continuous training is recommended and they tell you to do the training that you need to do. Also some mandatory training that you have to do. It's really up to you to develop yourself but Accenture will help you get there. That's what I felt anyway.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
Quite appealing, I received an offer and will hope to join them on the graduate scheme.
The Culture
Yes, we all happened to live in the same student housing so there we became a fairly close knit group. Nights out were frequent and convenient to organise as well, and I met some good friends here.
The company subsidised our rent so that was fine. There were many places to eat around the area I lived, which was fairly close to the shopping areas. But its expensive.
There are many bars and restaurants around. London has an amazing night life.
Yes, there are many sport and other related activities outside of work. There was the CSR day where we went to a park for some volunteer work, which was a nice day off.
