The Role
It was very interesting and a lot of fun!
The ability to which you are able to add value will be down to luck and your own abilities. I was able to take notes on a call that turned out to be quite useful. Supervisors always made me feel as if my work was helpful.
My supervisors were very helpful. They were always there to answer my questions and to have a chat about anything.
On the whole there was a good balance. However, at times I had very little to do and at other times I had multiple things to do at once.
I was given the freedom to do my work independently. This was then checked and revised and sometimes actually used. However, as a summer vacation scheme student the responsibility possible and expected is quite small.
I learned how to structure written work in a business context, how to do an attendance note, etc. However, the skills are quite particular to the work place and will be of limited use during my degree.
The Company
Very good! Everyone was very friendly!
There were plenty of social events organised and many presentations/talks. Everything ran very smoothly.
The company put a lot of effort into allowing me to experience what working there might be like. They were determined to get me exposure to many different areas and into as interesting work as possible. Of course, during a 3 week placement there was not a huge emphasis on training. However, there were many opportunities for feedback and I certainly did develop,

The Culture
Very good - set up a What's App group and arranged lots of lunches in the canteen and some informal social events
Broadgate and Shoreditch are quite expensive but that's London!
Some really great bars in nearby Shoreditch and some very busy bars in Broadgate
I managed to join some trainees to do some pro bono work at a local legal advice centre.
