The Role
I have thoroughly enjoyed my placement with Hays. I have had so many opportunities to develop my skills and grow as a person whilst on placement. I will always value the experience and relationships I have built whilst with Hays.
I was treated like a permanent member of staff and included in all work and social events. They always acknowlegded my hard work and commitment - the culture of the company is brilliant, everyone celebrates each others success.
Whilst on placement I was guided by the office manager and my mentor, both were extremely helpful. Whenever I had a question or query they always helped and assisted in the best way they could. Time was always set aside by both to discuss how I was doing and how to improve.
I was very busy on a daily basis, but I enjoyed being busy, although it was very important to be organised. I had a lot of deadlines to work to and it was crucial that I met them. I was never sat watching the clock, there was always something else for me to do or something to do to help a colleague. No day was the same.
Although I wasn't a full consultant, I still had a lot of responsibility. I had to ensure that teacher and teaching assistants were cleared to work in schools. I had my own portfolio of candidates that I was responsible for interviewing, clearing and getting DBS checked. I was also given the chance to help recruit for our internship for this year!
I have gained and developed skills that I will continue to use for the rest of my life. Professionally and personally I am in a position that I wouldn't have been in without my placement at Hays.
The Company
The atmosphere in my office was brilliant. I was in an office of about 15 people, so it was quite small compared to others, but everyone got on really well. Hays also promotes a very work hard, play hard atmosphere and that was definitely the case in my office.
Hays are known for its well-structured internship and training that goes along with it and deservedly so. I always some kind of guidance to follow that was extremely helpful and the quarterly reviews were extremely valuable
I was sent on training courses throughout my time on placement that allowed me to become more productive and develop skills that I wasn't as competent in. Also, because I was chosen to be a Talent Scout for Yorkshire and the North East I had to opportunity to travel down to London and have formal traning with the Head of Internal Recruitment which what a brilliant experience.

There are many opportunities to return to the company as a consultant in different locations and departments. I have a job to return to after graduation if I want to.
The Culture
I was the only intern in the office, but there was a great social scene amongst everyone outside of work.
I lived and worked in Hull, which is a very cheap place to live so money was never an issue. Hull isn't the most lively place in the world, but it does have a few gems.
The night life is very good if you know where to go.
Everyone in the office was always willing to do something after work or on a weekend.
