The Role
I was given a lot of responsibility from Day 1 and although sometimes it meant I was struggling to get everything done, I learnt from it and feel a lot more prepared for work post-graduation.
All my colleagues were eager to help when required and got me involved in the team atmosphere straight away.
The managers were always available to help if required and there is a good set up with colleagues also being systems experts and trainers. Some time it felt as if too much was expected, but that helps push your limits.
Varied on a day to day basis. Some days were absolutely manic but that comes with the responsibility.
From Day 1 I had my own desk and was soon making key decisions by myself.
This year has helped me develop hugely in terms of confidence, organisation and work ethic. All of which will aid my final year.
The Company
The atmosphere was good. In recruitment there is a high turnaround so a substantial number of my initial colleagues had left prior to finishing my placement, however all their replacements have become good friends.
Initially there is a lot of focused training and the set up was excellent with lots of catch ups with Directors and Management. This stopped after a few months and there was no end of placement review.
There was a lot initially with a training course and numerous training sessions. Any time there was anything new a training session would be released which enabled me to keep on top of everything.
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
They have stressed that there will be plenty of opportunity to come back after my degree so this is something I would consider.
The Culture
I got on with all of my fellow interns and there were a number of nights sorted out through the year. Weekly drinks meant I got to know people quickly, and at the end of each quarter there is a large wrap up with everyone from the Office.
Living in London was expensive however I cycled in to work saving quite a lot. Drinks etc are also very expensive however Hays increase the salary if you are in central London. Also if the team had done well in a period there would be drinks sorted out for you.
There were many bars and clubs nearby.
There was a weekly football team and a few guys who played each weekend.
