About You
I totally loved the Talent Academy organised by the PwC. I think it provided me a deep insight into not only the chosen line of service but also into the firm. I participated in elective sessions, debate and many more really engaging activities. Also, during the 2 days Academy I found out how helpful and lovely are the people from the firm - all of them answered our questions and talked about their experiences. Beside that, the insight was also organised very well, there was someone waiting for us at the station, the coach took us to the place and during our staying in Staverton Park, everything was prepared and we did not have to worry about anything.
I felt really valued during the insight. As I have already said, people from the company (not only Associates but also Partners, Directors and Recruitment Team) wanted to find out more about us in a very friendly way. Also the information that we were provided with were very suited and provided me with information that I wanted to get. I could not mention the localisation of the Talent Academy - Staverton Park. It was a very lovely place, which allowed us to see England from a countryside and also focus on the tasks - as there were no distractions. We had access to the pool, gym and amazing food. I felt really valued during these two days, I am really happy that I was able to participate in this Insight.
I received a lot of guidance and support. The staff was able to answer all of the questions I had. Also I have received many materials, which I could take with me in order to read later. Elective sessions and insight into the chosen line of service I think provided me with the biggest amount of guidance and support. Although I was not sure which line of service to choose at the beginning, through talks and presentation I was able to make a good decision. Everyone was very helpful and I think PwC really wanted us to enjoy these two days, which of course happened.
I think that the skills developed, and information received will help me a lot during the interview for Summer Internship. Through the debate, Talent Academy allowed me to develop my public speaking skills, it was a great experience to speak in front of the judges and my colleagues and get constructive criticism together with some extra tips, how to do well during these kind of tasks. This is just one example how the Insight has benefited my overall development, also the fact that I met so many new people, from different universities helped me to make some new friendships and exchange our ideas about particular concepts.
The Company
The insight was structured very well. On Day1 everyone has received a timetable with rooms and activities on it. Also we had quite few short breaks during which we had a coffee, piece of chocolate and were able to get to know each other better! Even when there was an unforeseen event (someone in the hotel left a straightener on, which made the fire alarm go on - other guest, not someone from our group:)) PwC team was able to react quickly and reschedule few things so that everything was happening on time. The activities such as elective sessions, insights into the line of service or even dinner, were well structured too.
Although most people think that you cannot have fun during your work, I think that PwC showed us that if you have lovely people around you, you can always have fun. The atmosphere was great, everyone was keen to answer our questions or even to just have a conversation. During the Partner Dinner everyone was able to ask questions and have very engaging conversations about how is it to work for PwC. But not only the PwC staff was really nice but also the people that were participating in the Talent Academy as well, everyone really wanted to get to know each other and I am sure that I can say that we all had really good time.
The company really cared about my development and training. We had one session about the line of chosen service, during which the employees explained everything and gave us an insight. In addition to that we had two elective sessions (prior to the Academy everyone was able to show their preference for a particular elective session). I also participated in a debate, which helped me to develop my public speaking skills.
The insight greatly helped me to understand how would it be to work for PwC, this was because of many employees sharing their experiences.
The insight explained and showed the PwC's culture, I was exposed to many presentations and was able to see what the culture of PwC is during the activities and dinner.
The Talent Academy helped me to chose which line of service I want to apply for, I was not sure whether I preferred Consulting or Assurance - after several activities I have made my mind and chosen Assurance.
Everything Else
I was reimbursed for the train tickets.
There were plenty of opportunities for networking - during the workshops and also during a dinner. During the dinner I was able to speak to various PwC employees and ask them many questions.
The networking/social programme was really well planned. I had a chance not only to meet people from PwC but also to get to know the people that were on the Talent Academy. It was really a valuable experience.
Yes, during the dinner I was able to ask many questions and one of the question was what can you do outside of work. Employees told me about various stuff but the one that really interested me was the volunteering opportunity - it's great that the company tries to help the society.
Definitely, I will recommend Talent Academy to all my friends, who are interested in this field.
