About You
It was structured in a way that meant you didn't feel like you were wasting your time being there and you were always learning something. The elective sessions were interesting and interactive and being able to network with partners was an exciting opportunity compared to the normal networking sessions internships offer with graduates.
They made you feel like they really wanted you to work for them and that they valued your talent. They were happy to answer any questions you had and try to accommodate anything else that we needed that made you feel very valued. Everyone was very friendly.
We were given information on the company as an overview as well as in more detail about the areas they cover and then detail on our particular area of interest. We were also given guidance on the application process and what PwC looks for. They were willing to help us and give us support in any way possible and to answer any questions we had.
As the degrees do not tend to be particularly relevant, the hard information will not be useful. However we had a debate in which we had to work in teams, among other things, and the soft skills we learnt will be invaluable at university and beyond.
The Company
It was perfect. I couldn't have asked for anything better in this regard.
Although it was taken seriously and we were there to learn, there was an incredibly friendly and open atmosphere at all times. It was very comfortable and noone was made to feel more important than anyone else.
They gave us invaluable information as well as developing our soft skills as much as possible in the time available and giving us the resources to continue to do so ourselves, beyond the insight.
Although we didn't get to see people at work or do case studies to see what they do, it was clearly explained as to what it would be like during the firm and we were able to ask current employees as many questions as we liked to gauge what working full time at the firm would be.
The company culture came across through the people. We also learnt about it and they explained clearly what they look for in their employees and the culture that they foster at the firm.
The first day was invaluable, especially with the general overview of the four main different areas of the company. It enabled us to think about options that we maybe didn't already know much about and had not already considered. The second day was more focused on soft skills than helping us decide our career path.
Everything Else
It was unpaid but expenses should be reimbursed for whatever transport we took to get to the insight. Additionally, they organised various transport methods to help people get to the venue as well as covering all hotel costs and food (and some drinks too!)
There were constant opportunities for networking and meeting other employees. Even when we were not in 'networking events', we were always in sessions with different employees and had a chance to talk to them as much as one liked.
They offered a real opportunity to ask as many questions as we liked with a variety of people with different experiences and expertise. However they were very informal, social and fun.
We could find out if we asked but we were not explicitly told about it in any sessions. If you were interested in knowing however, it would be easy enough to find out from the employees.
Without a doubt. It was interesting, I learnt a lot, everyone was very friendly and I had a huge amount of fun. It was a good length of time and all the activities were useful.
