About You
I thoroughly enjoyed the PwC Talent Academy. It was such an insightful two days that had me learning a lot about myself, my skills and the company itself. The agenda was pretty packed so you were constantly on your toes, pushed to embracing all that was on offer. I believe the Talent Academy offers something that the competitor's do not, and that's the chance to become a part of the firm for the two days you attend.
I always felt valued during the Academy, except it may have been hard to see your value due to the amount of people that attended. However, you could definitely feel your value when speaking to the representatives from PwC as they seemed so engaged with you, wanting you to ask more questions and gian the most out of your experience.
There was so much guidance during the Academy, that's what it was all about. Each representative was there to guide and support you in your learning and experience, pushing you to become as involved as you possibly can and get the most out of the two day experience. Everything was centred around supporting you to make the best decisions and learn the most that you possibly could. Ensuring that you thought about how you could grow at PwC.
The skills I developed whilst at the Talent Academy will help me mainly beyond my degree studies because they wee centred around your relationship building abilities. This skill is invaluable though, as in order to make your way through any firm and progress as far as you can, you need to build a strong network. The information that we were provided with will be invaluable when progressing to the next stage of the process, and when applying for other opportunities with competitors. It was such an informative two days, allowing you to gain real insight into what the firm looks for and how you can best use your skills to fit the briefs.
The Company
The Academy was a packed two days but each event was structured I a way so that the recruits could get the most out of it as possible. At times some of the recruits were left confused about where to go next due to different activities happening in different rooms at the same time, however this could be improved easily for the next cycle.
The general atmosphere was fun and friendly, whilst being professional and informative. For the recruits, we were all in the same boat so gaining those friendships early on really helped in building everyone's confidence, allowing them to push themselves further. The atmosphere was encouraged by the PwC representatives who really wanted you to embrace the experience for all that it could off it.
I think you could feel how much PwC invested in the Talent Academy recruits. The fact that it was two days illustrated that the company was committed to giving you the best experience possible. The residential aspect indicated the commitment PwC had to its recruits as everything was paid and catered for. This really made you feel welcome and as if you presence there was important to the company. Everything at the Talent Academy was structured around the recruits gaining knowledge, rather than PwC promoting themselves to the recruits. This was something I didn't expect and made the experience so worthwhile.
I believe the Academy illustrated what it was like to work for the company to the fullest extent that they possibly could without actually taking you into an office and making you work. There was so much information given by the representatives that it was so easy to understand the kind of people that work there and what different jobs entail.
It was really helpful in explaining the culture and values of the company, as stated before, there was so much information on offer it was hard not to understand the type of company that PwC is.
Out of everything that I have done to try and learn as much as possible about which area of the professional services, the Talent Academy was the most helpful. Speaking to people who work in the different areas is the best posssible way to find out about what you will be doing in the job and the type of people that would fit best in that area. This was an invaluable part of the experience, and probably the best part as well.
Everything Else
Learning so much from the Takent a academy, and getting reimburse for this is unreal. So many people would pay to have the experience that I and others had.
The networking aspect of the Academy was probably its best quality. The were so many opportunities to grow your network with the other recruits, the representatives that were there and the partners that came to have dinner with us. From meeting so many different people you are able to gain so much more insight into the company and its values as well.
The partner dinner was a great experience and really allowed the recruits to pick the brains of the partners and find out almost everything that we needed to know. From the interview process, to what their daily week is like, to the best experience that they have had. The opportunities to network and socialise were always there and it was hard not to get involved, which made it even easier.
Yes, as a part of the Academy we were told of the different opportunities that PwC employees had to give back to the local communities. The amount of volunteering hours that the entire company has donated is staggering and will only grow through the years, which is a positive thing.
Yes, I would recommend the PwC Talent Academy to anyone who has an interest in the professional services. What you learn and experience whilst at the Academy is so invaluable, and really gives you an insight into the company and its people. there are so many different people that attend and it's exciting to speak to people from different backgrounds with different goals from you. You not only learn from the representatives but you learn from one another. It really is an amazing experience.
