About You
The vacation scheme was very enjoyable as it gave me a broad overview of what it was like to actually work at Simmons & Simmons and that really helped me decide what firm I truly wanted to train at.
People at the firm did actually value my help and the work that I did and it usually was never some work that was made up just for the vacation scheme.
The supervisors were always making sure that I had some work and always made sure that I was able to cope with the amount given and help out whenever it was needed.
I was able to develop many skills such as attention to detail, drafting skills and proofreading which would of course assist me tremendously during law school, especially for future coursework.
The Company
The insight was well-structured since, grad rec had planned it so well.
I found that our scheme could have had a bit more fun. We generally did go out for the events but most of the time they always called it a day quite early.
We had several workshops where we had the opportunity to improve in our drafting and negotiation skills
It helped a lot as it allowed me to integrate with the team and actually be able to engage with and work with most of the department
I was invited to several department drinks where I was able to get a feel for the type of people working there. Also, everyone always had their door open and were always willing to talk to you for whatever reason should you have a question or concern
Quite valuable, since I probably would have never had known what it was like to work with hedge fund companies if I was not in financial services
Everything Else
I was always paid on a weekly basis
Yes there were several networking opportunities such as partner brunches and drinks
The socials were a lot of fun especially the bounce tournament and the champagne reception
Yes I did we got many invites to play 5 a side football or softball
I would definitely recommend it to everyone
