About You
The insight was a very enjoyable and useful experience. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, and all the attendees very sociable.
It seemed as if PwC definitely put a lot of effort into the Academy. The staff and Partners all seemed genuinely interested in talking to us and it was made clear that they wanted us to all do well in interviews and progress onto a placement year or summer internship.
The guidance on the next steps following the Academy to progress to an internship or placement year were really useful. We learnt about what a PwC professional means and were given other interview tips.
One aspect of the Academy I found useful was the session on commercial awareness. It was helpful to see how even limited prior knowledge can be utilised to solve business issues. I also found the debate really useful both in terms of planning a group project and in practicing my presentation skills.
The Company
The insight was well structured but jam packed. I perhaps would have preferred another day to spread out activities more and leave more time for reflection on what you have learnt.
The staff were helpful, friendly and welcoming, providing a relaxed learning environment. There was a good social environment and I really enjoyed getting to know the other attendees.
Elective sessions were ran in different areas and business problems helped in terms of personal development. The debate was a great opportunity to practice your presentation skills and to work within a team with people you have never met before.
The consulting service line talk gave me a really good idea of the range and types of projects I could be working on if I worked at PwC.
We learnt a lot about the PwC Professional and culture of the firm. Talking to staff also gave a good insight to the types of people who work at PwC.
It was really helpful in helping me affirm that I want to go into management consulting. It also allowed me to find out about the other service lines at PwC.
Everything Else
This was not a paid insight. I had no expenses.
There was a networking dinner with staff and Partners.
The dinner was a great networking and socialising opportunity. You could ask any questions which you had and all the staff were really friendly, helpful and up for a chat.
We found out about some of the charitable work you could get involved in.
I would definitely recommend this insight. It was useful, fun and an overall great experience.
