About You
Fantastic ! The whole experience was really well thought out by the HR team so that we got a really great insight not only into the working but social life at the firm.
Everyone was really open to our presence and happy to give us work and take the time to explain tasks that required background knowledge. There was a real atmosphere of wanting to give us as many opportunities as possible and all work I completed was appreciated with proper feedback
With feedback sessions at the close of both weeks and a HR debrief, as well as countless guidance from buddies and supervisors I never felt at loss for where to look for guidance !
The two weeks gave a brilliant insight into the day to day life of a lawyer and the nature of the work. Many of the skills I have learnt are incredibly valuable for the start of a career in law if not transferable into day to day life and hopefully at law school. Certainly the information I received was compressive and truthful and has really confirmed for me that I wish to follow a legal career with particular insight into certain areas of law.
The Company
The insight was varied and comprehensive with the perfect balance of social activities, information gathering sessions, department placements and assessments. It never felt like we were being shortchanged of opportunities and there was plenty of opportunity to be proactive in approaching employees for further insight or guidance.
Throughout the atmosphere amongst the vac schemers was cooperative and friendly, something that resonated within the firm itself. Everyone was very open and accommodating to our presence and willing to help as much as they could. From the sports events to the socials to even lunch there was never a dull moment !
Being assigned a buddy and a supervisor meant the my progress was closely followed and I was given plenty of feedback on work and areas to improve.
Sitting in two different departments and being involved in a variety of client meetings, calls and offsite visits as well as all the networking and social events gave a very good insight into the firm.
The company culture and strong adherence to values was very obvious throughout the structure and practice of the firm and was displayed in everything they did.
I feel that I now have a much more comprehensive understanding of what law firms and particularly Taylor Wessing do. The scheme made sure we received thorough information about all parts of the firm not just those areas were sat in, in order to give us a very good insight into a legal career.
Everything Else
Payment for the two weeks was given.
There were plenty of opportunities for networking and establishing relationships from organised lunches to afterwork socials as well as the ability to take the initiative and organise something yourself which employees were very open and welcoming too.
The social events were very well run with plenty of representatives from the firm and great choices of venues with good activities to get involved in!
Yes and we were actively encouraged to take part where possible !
Absolutely
