The Role
Thoroughly enjoyed my placement which provided me with some great opportunities to develop my skill set and give me an insight into how a large company operates.
My colleagues were reliant on the work I did and I was an essential part of the team. Also got on with them very well.
Had regular meetings with my manager who provided regular support throughout my placement,
Was kept busy with operational work and if I ever needed more work during quiet periods there was plenty of project based work I could pick up.
The work I carried out was operational work that if I had not been there, another full time member of the team would of had to carry out. The responsibilities I had had direct implications on the team's overall work.
The role was quite data heavy and analytically inclined so progressed these skills. However, the role wasn't that much linked to my degree regarding business.
The Company
The office was quite quiet and reserved although there was plenty of opportunity to talk to colleagues and have a catch up.
The placement was well run although the start of it was a bit unorganized. By the end of the placement it didn't feel like a placement more like an actual job.
The company were heavily invested in my personal development. They discussed areas I could improve and provided ample opportunities to develop these areas among others.
Sports and Social Club
Working from home
Would seriously consider coming back to work for the company on the graduate scheme.
The Culture
Didn't live near work. Commuted in from London as opposed to renting nearby.
Reading town, the nearest
National Grid provided plenty of sporting and non sporting activities out of work.
