About You
I really enjoyed the possibility of experiencing different aspects of the Audit division and working in an incredibly welcoming and supporting environment!
I was actually very surprised by the responsibility that I was given during my time at Deloitte. It really felt like I was an integral part of the process (of course to the extent of my knowledge and technical abilities).
I couldn't have asked for more. Everyone around was ready to help explaining the task I had to complete or giving me hints on how to perform it better and quicker, from graduates to managers.
They will probably not turn out very handy for my degree studies as I am doing something completely different, but the insight into how a company such as Deloitte works is invaluable for any future career.
The Company
I worked based on what was needed on a certain day. So when I came into work in the morning I did not necessarily knew what I was going to do. But I don't take that as a negative aspect. I think it helps you developing adaptability and it never becomes a boring routine.
It was great, it is definitely an incredible workplace overall. The office may be buzzing with work, but you never feel stress or anxiety.
Deloitte makes sure that you understand that they want you to stay. I received all the basic training that a joining graduate would get.
I worked on bits and pieces of different projects: reviewing financial statements, working with EMS program, and referencing accounts. I also had the chance to work on a client's site. I think I have a pretty good idea of what a full time role would look like.
The insight showed very well that Deloitte aims to be the Distinctive Firm. Its culture transpires from every employee.
I think I have a much clearer idea of where I want my career to go, and working at Deloitte was an essential part of that understanding.
Everything Else
I received a salary during my time there.
Yes, working in Audit you are never working by yourself. You always have a project with someone else, and in a regional office you end up interacting with most of the people in your division, even in the short time of three weeks.
We were offered lunch a couple of times and had the opportunity to chat with graduates and other more senior employees. It was very relaxed and pleasant, and they always tried to make you feel at ease.
I did not, but it was due to the fact that I only spent three weeks as an Intern.
Deloitte is the best place to get a glimpse of the 'real world', and it makes you want to stay there. So I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is entering the job market for the first time.
