The Role
I enjoyed it a lot as it was a great learning experience and something totally new.
Despite just being a summer student, I always felt valued by the other colleagues. They gave me real work to do and positive feedback when it was completed.
My mentor, or advisor, was really nice. She did our training on the first day and came to check on us throughout our time working, as well as asking us how we were getting on with preparation for our interview which was at the end of our time there.
Some days were busier than others, it just depended on how the audit was going. Waiting for clients to send back up often delayed things! On the whole though, I was busy most days.
I was given more responsibility than I thought I would be - we were working on real work on real audits.
I have learned so much over the past few weeks, and it will definitely help me when I finish university and enter the world of work
The Company
Really positive and upbeat. Everyone got along and there was always something to speak about!
The whole process was really well set up, all the way from the application stage to the placement. However, the only bad thing was how late we got our joining instructions for our national induction which was in Birmingham, meaning that lots of last minute transport had to be booked.
We had to do IT training, a service line induction as well as corporate responsibility training, so I believe they did spend time investing in the training we were given
The future employment prospects look very promising. The career development seems very logical, adaptable but structured at the same time.
The Culture
There were a couple of social events whilst I was there
I wasn't really affected by them as I stayed at home. The socialising costs were average though.
Lively, especially at the weekends
Apart from the social activities, then no, but I'm sure there would be if you were there for a longer period of time.
