The Role
My placement at SAP was beyond anything I could imagine. The massive amounts of responsibility you receive, the skillset you gain, the opportunities you are granted (scary and exciting), the network you build and the friendly, always willing to help working environment, contributes towards a fantastic placement experience. But only if you're willing to work hard! You get out what you put in
Very much so. Once you have proven yourself to the managers and your peers, you are definitely valued as a full time employee, not as an intern, but a real full timer. With this comes even more responsibility and opportunities.
The support system was fantastic, but this comes with good networking skills. Your managers are your obvious choice for support, but as they are very busy, you need to leverage your network for support sometimes. During my year, I had about 7 or 8 people that I spoke to on a weekly basis for support, managers and mentors. So as long as you're willing to reach out, you can have all the support you want.
Very busy. This only comes from pushing yourself though. Reiterating my point of getting out what you put in, you can easily sit back, relax and complete the same tasks each week for your 13 months. If you want to get the most out of SAP, it is very much a two way street, you put in the effort and people will respond and invest time and effort in you. For me, this placement was what you make of it, allowing you to mould it any direction you want to. It's important to highlight that I never felt overworked as well, yes I had to stay late quite a lot, but I was happy to do this because I enjoyed the work I was doing. But SAP very much believes in a good work/life balance and I definitely felt this throughout my placement.
I felt like a full time employee and was regarded as one also. Because SAP don't take on hundreds of employees, there is tonnes of responsibility out there to claim, you just have to go out and earn it.
Massively so. The skills and training I developed over my placement were invaluable, not only in the workplace but also in every day life. You can't put a price on some of the attributes I have strengthened and gained this year.
The Company
Very relaxed, nobody was ever looking over your shoulder. They believe in a good work/life balance and once you have built up a level of trust with your managers and peers, they leave you to your own devices, making what you want of the opportunities you're given. Everyone is approachable and willing to help, even the C level employees, the office is open plan so you can easily go and speak to anyone at anytime.
My placement in Presales in particular wasn't particularly structured, which in my opinion was good. Me and my manager regularly established goals and timelines for my development, but I was never tied down. I was given the freedom to mould this placement into whatever I wanted, which was fantastic. This allowed me to really push further into things that I wanted to do and learn more about. In terms of organisation, the managers are always around and willing to help, albeit they are busy, but it is more your responsibility.
They invested a lot into me, everyone is willing to help and they want you to do well.

Very appealing, although competitive, the presales and sales academy sound really good. Also the investment in early talent is promising.
The Culture
Yes, we regularly went out and socialised together.
We usually went out in central London so it was quite expensive.
In the surrounding area, very poor. But we were only a short while away from Richmond and central London so it wasn't a problem.
Plenty of CSR and extra activities to get involved in, such as charity bike rides, sports clubs, etc...
