    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Kicked off with a week of induction, and although strictly speaking not -necessary-, it was probably a good way to ease a lot of interns into the setting.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Very much so. Feedback was positive and I felt like I made a difference to them with the work I did.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I saw my people manager regularly,

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Work was very up and down. Had to actively chase colleagues for assignments - once they saw my work ethic and attention to detail they kept giving me work. I would have loved more intellectually challenging pieces, though. (Never worked past 17:30 -- stayed after hours a couple of times and was chased home by my colleagues!)

    2/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Did real work on some top clients. Similar tasks to what an associate would do, although some are more mundane than others. Had two quite large projects that I very much enjoyed working on.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Invaluable insight into the professional world.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I wasn't included too much in the social aspect of it, but I probably could have involved myself more. It seemed like other offices had more of a social atmosphere - then again, I was the only intern in my department.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Some hiccups with IT in the beginning, but after this it was seamless. I will add that Tax is a lot less structured than Assurance.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Three days of technical training (off-site), followed by two days of IT and office training. Was explained my tasks thoroughly before embarking upon them. Also completed a two hour seminar on the Euro Crisis, where all levels of the firm participated.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Many different career paths, and all of them are a brilliant start to a career.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Not so much in Tax, probably because I was the only intern in Tax. The Assurance interns were from the city I worked (I wasn't), and seemed busy with their own social lives.

    2/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Festival was on during my placement, so there were always shows (free and payable) to attend.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Fantastic!

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes, but not so much for interns.

    2/5
