The Role
My placement year has been challenging, to say the least, but it has been so much more fun that I expected. I have met some of the greatest people and learnt a lot about myself and my endurance.
I felt like I was welcomed from my first day and really got to know the team, helped by the end of year celebrations being in my first week! As the year goes on, you forget that you won't be here forever and now it's getting to the end, it's really sad to think that it's almost over.
I was surrounded by people who really know what they're doing, so whatever the question, someone will know the answer. It was great to also have 5 other interns in the team, it meant that you could share the experience together, because we were all in the same boat.
Very. There is always something going on or a new contract role coming in that had a time limit. It was fun to be in that kind of 'go, go, go' environment
More than I could've ever anticipated. The long days and the intensity will definitely stand me in good stead to go back to my final year. I have been constantly on the go all year so it'll be great to see how that drives me through to the end of exams.
Over the past year, I have learned an immeasurable amount of lessons about the working world and how important it is to get as much experience as possible and increase my employability. The skills you gain working in a corporate environment with extremely experienced people aren't the same as academic achievements; when you get a good grade at university, it's only true value is to the industry it applies to, having commercial awareness and all of the other things you gain on a placement year will be valued by any employer.
The Company
Because everyone is so young and lively, the office was always loud and the majority of the time it was such a positive vibe. Being in Central London has also been a lot of fun! There are times when morale is low and people around you aren't having the best day/week (including yourself), but that's when you really learn what it is to be self-motivated.
Well, my university have a good system in place and the intern programme here was such a big operation this year, so it was well organised.
They spent a lot of time at the beginning introducing you to all of the information you needed, but it's quite hard to be taught it. It's more of a trial and error, learn along the way kind of role, which was interesting.

My career objective lies within a different industry, but I would never say never.
The Culture
There was a very good social scene and it was nice to meet other interns in the office, as well as ones based around the UK at training sessions.
It's Central London, so quite expensive. I commuted from home, which wasn't too bad.
Great, there was so much to do.
We had quite long hours, so there wasn't too much time for that
