About You
I enjoyed the variety of work undertaken at the firm and the exposure I had to this.
I felt that I was treated as a contributing member of the team. I was given responsibility to undertake tasks without supervision.
Everyone at the firm was welcoming and approachable, offering help and advice at every opportunity. Tasks were well instructed and feedback was valuable.
The skills I developed will be very helpful in future legal work, drafting and research skills in particular. I now have a much better understanding of how a large corporate firm operates internally and externally.
The Company
Each day and week was well structured to provide a clear set of objectives.
Everyone was friendly and helpful and did everything they could to assist making the placement a success.
Through the tasks undertaken, the instructions and the feedback received contributed to developing and improving my work.
While it is not possible to cover every aspect of a firm in three weeks, I have a good understanding of how the firm operates and the role of an employee within the organisation.
Various social activities and the general office atmosphere provided an interesting insight into the attitude and ambition of the firm.
The tasks undertaken were of the standard and style regularly carried out by trainees which provided me with a realistic image for the future.
Everything Else
I was paid more than I would have received in alternative summer jobs which was attractive as I was able to learn and earn at the same time.
Various lunches and social activities, as well as the approachable nature of the firm meant that I was able to engage with a range of other employees.
They were good fun and provided an informal setting to get to know colleagues and the firm in general better.
I was able to play touch rugby with the firm's team which was good fun.
Certainly, it gives a balanced insight into the work of a large law firm and an office environment. The variety of work undertaken provided a good insight into the market in general. In all a well organised placement.
