The Role
I really enjoyed my time working at Grant Thornton. The programme was really varied and we got a got to spend a lot of time at client sites which was really interesting. The work we were given was varied, we did not do the same things over and over. This meant that we were kept engaged with the work.
Everyone seemed grateful to have another pair of hands to help with the jobs! Everyone was really friendly and very inclusive. There was a lot of help and mentoring from everyone that we worked with and any and every question was highly welcomed!
I was given a lot of support throughout the internship. I always had a lot of help from the people I was working with and I felt that I could ask any question no matter how silly! We were supported by both our line manager and the graduate recruitment team.
On the whole every time I finished a piece of work I would be given another one in about 10 minutes. On the occasion that there was not work at that moment we could work on our 'projects'. These projects were an extra piece of work we had chosen at the start of our internship which was more creative. We also could work on our final presentation which we had to give in the final week.
I was given responsibility over my own work but could always ask for help. Our work was regarded as if we were part of the normal team and in some cases as we had been there a year already! This meant that our work was reviewed in the normal manner for all other employees, this meant that we got accurate feedback on our work
I think that skills I learnt will be very useful going into an accountancy job as we were doing proper work from day 2. If will not be useful as such to my degree as I do a science degree. We had a really great presentation course, this will be really useful for the future.
The Company
It was really good. The hot-desk area at Euston had a relaxed atmosphere and people were always friendly. When anyone went for drinks they asked everyone if they wanted anything. The atmosphere on teams is obviously dependent on the people in them but I had a really great time on all my teams!
It was good, we got a full timetable on the first day and were kept informed of changes! We had a conference which gave us a real welcome to the event.
There was obviously a lot of thought and effort put into the internship to ensure that we got something out of it. We had a presentation course which was really good. We also had to give a presentation and lead/run numerous projects, this gave us independence.

The future prospects look really good at GT. all the new joiners are really friendly and really involved. Everyone seems like they have a good time and are hard working people. It realy makes me feel like this is the place for me.
The Culture
The were numerous social events that we could attend. I think that there was almost one event a week! We got to know the other interns really well and there was always the opportunity to meet other people. At the intern only events it was nice to consolidate the friendships we had formed.
I lived at home so not really relevant. The social scene was expensive but most events were all inclusive.
Not relevant, I didn't got to clubs. The bars were all good though.
There were lots of opportunities to get involved with sports events. There also seemed to be a lot of other events but these were fully booked up!
