The Role
During my placement I had the opportunity to get invovled in a wide variety of projects.: Everything from a factory move to a rebranding project. These were all challenging in their own way and allowed me to develop a proffessional skill set that I can use going forward in my career. There is also a well structured training program for all interns which gives the chance to meet others in the company & travel between sites. The trianing courses included Excel training, planning & prioritsation, communication & presentation skills.
I worked within a strong team who work well together. I got a lot of support from day one and was trusted with many projects & actions.
Everyone I had contact with was more than willing to offer support. I never felt worried even when tasked with challenging activities.
I had a lot to do but it was managable. You are given as much as you are willing to take on. To get the most of your placement it is definitely advisable to take on as much as possible.
I had a lot of responsiblity. Weekly I would have to report to senior management about the projects I was working on. There is a lot of exposure within Eaton and the sessions with management improved my presentational & confidence skills no end! I had weekly tasks that was given extra things when I asked for them. As the placement went on and I learned more, I was given more and began to be utilised me within the team/ People would begin to ask me to advise on things and genuinely wanted my opinion on projects and proposed plans.
I have learned LOADS! Adaptability and versatility is definitely something I learned a lot about. With exposure to people in Eaton sites accross the world, i was able to learn to change my approach to tailor my audience. I was also given a lot of feedback. The routine will definitely help me with my final year of University! Because of the training I also feel a lot more confident when applying to graduate jobs as I know that I will now be at a competitive advantage against graduates who come out of uni without the placement experience I have had.
The Company
I work in a very happy office! Everyone is supportive and is willing to help.
Very well! There is a good structure to the training events which all lead up to an end of year presentation. This meant that we are were working toward a goal which encouraged us to get involved with more as to impress during our final year presentations! As lot of this work could also be handed in to uni as part of the course!
I feel that there was a lot invested in to every intern at Eaton. We had around 7 training days that we al had to attend which covered a range of skills, both hard and soft. As lot of us, including me was also given the opportunity to travel which. This further helped with my development and engagement within the company! There was also a lot of time invested into us with managers and other colleagues taking a lot of time out to help and engage with us.

Eaton are keen to keep on the talent that they have found on their intern program.
The Culture
There was 6 interns at my site and many younger colleagues who were all up for a night out! There is a lot to do socially should you want to do it!
Relatively cheap. I was in loughborough and got a flat with another Intern for £290 a month! Bargain! Socialising is also pretty cheap, although for better nightlife I would head up to Nottingham which means at least £10 each way per person in a taxi
For me personally, Loughborough hasn't got the best nightlife! NOttingham was very good fun though but you obivously more expensive!
Yes! As long as your are friendly and put yourself out there, you will get endless invites to social events outside of work.
