The Role
I thouroughly enjoyed my internship. It began by a 3 day residential near Birmingham with all the other interns in the UK, this was a great way to begin the internship and meet everyone. I was given lots of exciting work to do and learnt a lot about auditing and the different industries that their clients are in. Everyone at PwC were very friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even more enjoybale.
Everyone that I worked for seemed to appreciate the work that I completed, this made me feel valued and made my work feel more meaningful.
Everything was explained to me in a clear and concise manner and it was easy to ask those in charge for further clarrification or if I was stuck on a particular task. I was given a buddy and a people manager who I coul talk to if I had any issues which made the internship feel more relaxed.
I was always busy with lots of tasks to complete. Some days, if I had less work to do, I could catch up with e-learning or work on the dragons den project.
I was given a reasonable level of responsibility, however, this was never overwhelming as there was always somebody more experienced who you could ask for help.
I learnt and developed many skills such as organisation, time management, team working etc. These will be useful for completing my dissertation next year at university and also for my future career as the internship has provided an idea of what a graduate role would entail.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was very friendly. We had regular social events, such as having strawberries and champagne when the wimbledon mens semi finals were on!
Very well organised, from the residential induction, to local induction and then the variety of jobs that I was assigned to. Being given a buddy and people manager ensured that I was made to feel welcome and relaxed from day 1.
I was given extensive training throughout my internship which ensured that I could complete my work to a high standard.
Company Parties/Events
At the end of the internship I will find out if I have got a graduate job.
The Culture
Yes, I went out once a week for dinner with the other interns. There were also a number of social and sport events organised by the office such as the wimbledon day and promotion drinks.
The cost of living and socialising was reasonable, with a lot of bars and restaurants with good deals,
Good, there are lots of pubs and clubs in Glasgow.
There was a weekly touch rugby league.
